ShapeLock is a space-age plastic that melts in hot water at 160 F, then remains safely moldable by hand until locking rigidly at room temperature - simply reheat to shape as often as you like.
Non-toxic, lightweight, machine-able, paint-able, and colorable with hobby-shop pigments, this easy to use material is available in a variety of pre-packaged experimenter sizes.
Jim Loftus will be demonstrating some of the many uses of his amazing material, ShapeLock.
All participants will receive a free sample of ShapeLock to melt, mold and play with during the event.
ShapeLock is a super strong white opaque plastic similar to nylon or polypropylene in toughness, however it can be heated in the microwave or in hot water and molded by hand, drilled, sanded, machined and painted!
You can work it with tools just like you would with clay while it is soft, and even press it into molds. You can make all sorts of things with it. ShapeLock is a material inventors can use to create prototypes.
