David Pressman is a practicing intellectual property (patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, etc.) attorney in San Francisco. He is also the author of the best-selling do-it-yourself guidebook, Patent It Yourself, published by Nolo Press (Berkeley, CA).
Patent It Yourself is in its 15th edition, has sold over 300,000 copies and is recommended by Money Magazine. The Denver Post called it “an inventor’s bible”, Library Journal rated it “an outstanding self-help guide”, and The Second Whole Earth Catalog said, “Other patent books seem like mere abstracts compared to this detailed gem of a book”.
David Pressman is also the co-author of The Inventor’s Notebook, The Patent Drawing Book, Patents For Beginners, and Patent Pending In 24 Hours.
Pressman, formerly an electronic engineer, has over 40 years of experience in the patent profession; as a patent examiner, a corporate and independent intellectual property attorney, a columnist for EDN Magazine, and a patent law instructor at San Francisco State University. He is author of the Patent and Trademark entries in The World Book Encyclopedia. A former member of Mensa, Pressman holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. from The George Washington University, where he was on the Law Review.

Invention Promotion Companies
After Ray, Damon and Andrew get done giving you some insights on how to be a more effective inventor, they will share with you how their new company, OpenGate Licensing, LLC works.
Not everyone wants to make phone calls and negotiate to sell their idea.
What if that's you?
What if you don't want to make calls and negotiate deals?
What if you've tried without success?
What do you do then?
What are your options if you don't want to call companies yourself to sell your idea?
There aren't as many options as you would think.
Some companies want large sums of money up front and if you look them up there are tons of complaints about them on the Internet. It's all rosy in the beginning, but as a year or two passes with nothing happening you wonder where your money went and what they are really doing to sell your idea.
Others companies claim they want to sell your idea for a percentage, but then use this angle as a hook so they can sell you a bunch of patenting, prototyping, graphic design services and maybe an invention listing service that god knows who, if anyone will ever look at. Maybe they even get you for a $10,000 virtual prototype? We've seen it happen! Basically it's a bait and switch operation.
Damon, Andrew and Ray decided to start a very different type of company. A "straight up" company that doesn't sell services and only get's paid a percentage of the royalties if they successfully close a deal for the inventor. They'll talk more about how they set up the company and why they believe this to be a much better business model and option for Inventors.
Andrew Krauss has been educating inventors for over 13 years as the President of Inventors Alliance in the San Francisco/Silicon Valley Bay Area. He has had countless successful inventors and other experts lecture month after month at Inventors Alliance events.
Andrew also co-founded inventRight nine years ago to teach people how to license their new product ideas. His unique teaching style and patience with Inventors is remarkable. He coaches his students step-by-step through the entire licensing process. Andrew now works with Inventor students in thirty countries around the world.
Andrew Krauss has been featured on NPR (National Public Radio) Science Friday, along with many other media outlets. In addition, he was asked by the Obama transition team in 2008 to advise them on potential changes that should be made at the US Patent & Trademark Office to better serve independent Inventors.
