Improve Your Inventing Skills Roundtable
What exactly is an "Invention Skills Roundtable"?
It's something new that we are doing to educate you about different parts of the Inventing process. It's not a lecture or just a video of a past meeting. Instead it's short one to two minute video clips that everyone sitting at the round table watches and then discusses.
The goal is to fully understand the subject matter. Studies have shown that when the average person attends a lecture or talk, they only retain ten percent of what they hear. That's not very effective is it? Were assuming that you want to move forward with your inventions. To do that, you have to "engage", rather than just sit passively.
This "Invention Skills Roundtable" will engage you in the subject matter and help you retain what you hear by discussing it with others at the roundtable.
The topic for the first Roundtable is "Licensing".
Licensing is essentially renting your idea to a company, so that you can receive a royalty on each unit the company sells. When you license a product, the company will invest all their money to manufacture the product, advertise it, market it and get your product in stores. All you need is a good idea, a little time and the skills to present your ideas to potential licensees (manufacturers that could buy your idea). You don't need to start your own company!
Past Inventors Alliance speaker and successful Inventor Stephen Key has created ten one to two minute video clips for us to watch on the following topics. After each video, we will discuss what Stephen had to say about each of these topics on how to license your new product ideas. This is a great, fun interactive way to learn what you need to know to license your new product ideas.
