I encourage all of you in Sacramento to attend this meeting. Damon spoke two months ago at the Bay Area Chapter meeting and did an absolutely excellent job. His talk was extremely well received by the attendees. He used a lot of common language instead of legal jargon the explain how the world of patents works. Many attendees mentioned to me that they finally understood critical parts of the patent process after hearing his talk, plus they said his talk was jut plain enjoyable and fun.

Damon is a patent attorney, however I personally think he has career as an educator. You don't want to miss this meeting. I guarantee you will walk away more knowledgeable about patents.

This Month's Featured Speaker
Damon Kali, Patent Attorney

How to save thousands of dollars in patent attorney's fees

Ok so, you need to patent your invention, right? Nope! Wrong!

You are not really patenting just your invention. You are staking out the area of property that you will protect and harvest. That is, you are patenting any and all components or features of your invention that have new and useful functions (in patent speak they call it "utility").

Damon will answer the following questions:

  • How do you figure out which parts of your invention you need to protect?

    • What is the protection you get?
    • How do you think about protection?
    • What are "novel" elements?
    • How are dependent claims used to overcome rejections and how do they help you?
    • How many elements can you claim?

  • How do you protect your novel elements today?

  • How do you protect those elements tomorrow?

Damon will also cover...
  • How to save thousands of dollars in patent attorney's fees

  • How to protect inventions that many people might think are not protectable

  • He will also show you how and why quite often you, the inventor, are going to be more creative in figuring out what to protect than your patent attorney

Damon will get you in the right mindset to think like a patent attorney, so you can use
strategies you will need to protect your inventions.
